I spoke with my contact at Thule and he said that they have test fitted all their snow chains on 2003 Subaru Outbacks and found there were no clearance issues with any of their chains.

The factory connector to plug in a trailer wiring harness should be relatively in the same spot on your 2005 Subaru Outback Sedan as it is in the wagon models. The use of a trailer expander, the Brophy Hitch Expander part # HT5R or part # HTAD for example will reduce the weight capacity of the trailer hitch on the vehicle by 50%. Therefore, if the weight of the bike rack and bikes is less than half of the trailer hitch's capacity you will be good to go. The first difference between the Hopkins Active Tail Light Converter with Install Kit # 46255 and the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Harness and Hardwire Kit # 119250KIT is that the Hopkins kit comes with Dielectric Grease and the Tekonsha comes with a Circuit Tester. I attached a link to a page that has all of the hitch cargo carriers we offer that will fit the 1-1/4 inch hitch you have installed on your 2006 Subaru Outback but the one I recommend is the Reese Carrier part # 63155 because the I like the dimensions it has of 20x47 inch which makes it very practical for most applications and because it has a higher railing which helps keep things on the platform.

For a great trunk mount bike rack that will work well with the spoiler on your 2002 Subaru Outback Sedan I recommend the Thule OutWay # TH45JV. This rack works well with factory-installed spoilers. I double checked with the Thule fit guide, and the Passage 3 Bike Rack, # TH911XT, will fit your 2007 Subaru Outback Sedan. The weight limit is 60 pounds for 2 bikes, 90 pounds for 3 bikes.

I checked with Curt and I am 100% certain that their Item # C12284 does fit the 2005 Subaru Outback sedan unless it's the Sport model. There is no modification needed to complete the install either. I can't speak for factory parts because we have no direct affiliation with the manufacturers but this hitch has been around awhile and we've had no issues with fitment.
